2. Who does this privacy policy apply to?
When we process personal data, this means, in plain language, that we collect, store, use, transmit, or delete it, for example.
This privacy policy concerns the personal data of:
- Prospective customers, website visitors, customers, and business partners of STS-Tankservice GmbH and STS Tankservice Verwaltungs-GmbH who are natural persons.
3. What personal data do we collect from you?
We collect your personal data when you contact us, e.g. as a supplier or prospective customer.
This means: In particular, when you contact us by email or when you use our services within the scope of existing business relationships.
We process the following personal data:
- Personal identification information, e.g., first and last name, address, email address, telephone number
- Order and sales data, e.g., account data such as IBAN, sales
- Data on your online behavior, e.g., IP addresses, data on your visits to our websites
4. Why do we process your data (purpose of processing) – and on what legal basis?
4.1 We use your data so that you can use our services (fulfillment of contractual obligations).
In order to fulfill our contracts, we need to process your data.
To execute the contractual relationship, we need your address, telephone number, and/or email address so that we can contact you.
We also collect your payment details, for example for the processing and payment of services, and transmit these payment details to banks.
4.2 We use your data with your consent
If you have given us your consent to process personal data for specific purposes, the processing of this data is lawful. You can revoke your consent at any time. This also applies to the revocation of declarations of consent that you gave us before the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) came into force, i.e. before May 25, 2018. The revocation of consent does not affect the legality of the data processed until the revocation.
5. Who will receive your data?
5.1 Your personal data within STS
Within our company, only those departments that need your data to protect our legitimate interests or to fulfill our contractual and legal obligations have access to it.
5.2 Your personal data outside STS
We may only disclose information about you if required to do so by law or if you have given your consent.
A legal obligation to forward your personal data to external parties may apply in particular to the following recipients:
- Public authorities, supervisory authorities and bodies, such as tax authorities
- Judicial/law enforcement authorities, such as the police, public prosecutors, courts
- Lawyers and notaries, e.g., in insolvency proceedings

Service providers who support us

6. What data protection rights do you have?

6.1 Your right to access, information, and correction
You can request information about your personal data processed by us. If your information is no longer accurate, you can request that it be corrected.
If your data is incomplete, you can request that it be completed. If we have passed on your information to third parties, we will inform these third parties of your correction, provided this is required by law.
6.2 Your right to erasure of your personal data
You may request the immediate erasure of your personal data for the following reasons:
- If your personal data is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected
- If you withdraw your consent and there is no other legal basis
- If you object to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for processing
- If your personal data has been processed unlawfully
- If your personal data must be deleted to comply with legal requirements
Please note that a claim for deletion depends on whether there is a legitimate reason that requires the processing of the data.
6.3 Your right to restrict the processing of your personal data
You have the right to request a restriction on the processing of your personal data for one of the following reasons:
- If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data and we have had the opportunity to verify its accuracy
- If the processing is not lawful and you request restriction of use instead of erasure
- If we no longer need your data for the purposes of processing, but you need it to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims
- If you have lodged an objection, as long as it is not yet clear whether your interests outweigh ours
6.4 Your right to object
We may process your data on the basis of legitimate interests or in the public interest. In these cases, you have the right to object to the processing of your data.
This also applies if we use your data for our direct marketing. Please note our separate note under point 9: “Information about your right to object.”
6.5 Your right to lodge a complaint
In individual cases, you may not be satisfied with our response to your request. In this case, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with the STS data protection officer and the competent data protection supervisory authority.
6.6 Your right to data portability
You have the right to receive personal data that you have provided to us in a transferable format.
7. Are you obliged to provide data?
Within the scope of our business relationship, we require the following personal data from you:
- Data required for establishing and conducting a business relationship
- Data necessary for fulfilling the associated contractual obligations
- Data that we are legally obliged to collect.
Without this personal data, we are generally unable to enter into or execute a contract with you.
8. How long do we store your data?
We do not store your data for longer than we need it for the respective processing purposes.
If the data is no longer required for the fulfillment of contractual or legal obligations, it is regularly deleted, unless its temporary storage is still necessary. Reasons for this may include, for example:
- Compliance with commercial and tax law retention obligations:
These include, in particular, the German Commercial Code and the German Fiscal Code. The retention and documentation periods specified therein are up to ten years. - Obtaining evidence for legal disputes within the framework of the statutory limitation periods:
Civil law limitation periods can be up to 30 years, with the regular limitation period being three years.
9. Information about your right to object under Article 21 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) GDPR (data processing in the public interest) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (data processing based on a balancing of interests); This also applies to profiling based on this provision within the meaning of Article 4(4) GDPR.
If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims.
In the event of an objection, we will no longer process your personal data for these purposes.
